Appeals can Offer Extra Protections

Going to appeals can stop collection actions. For instance, a timely filed Collection Due Process hearing request will stop collections. But you need to be ready to discuss an alternative to the collection action or errors committed by the IRS.

As we always stress, you must be in compliance as much as possible. Make sure to file all missing returns from the last six years, and pay all current taxes.
