Taxpayers who honestly cannot pay anything to the IRS may be able to get into CNC status. That is: Currently Not Collectible, based on financial hardship (IRS link). This status is not regulated by statutory law. So current tax compliance may or may not be required before getting CNC status. CNC based on financial hardship stops collection activities by the IRS.

Unable to Find
